Video - Introduction to the Nurse and Midwife Graduate Program

Transcript

Thank you for taking the time to research the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service Nursing and Midwifery Program. This presentation is to inform you of what our graduate program offers, to ensure you make an informed decision when you apply to our graduate program on the Queensland Health Portal.

The program offers clinical appointments across a number of our facilities including the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Nambour, Caloundra and Gympie hospitals. Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital is not included within our graduate program.

Please review the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service graduate page for details on clinical areas offered within this program.

The following information is important for you to consider.

All applications for the graduate positions are completed through the Queensland Health Graduate Portal. The portal opens at 10am, Monday the 25th of July 2022 and closes 11:59pm, Friday the 19th of August 2022.

We will consider your preferences equally, however, we may not be able to offer you your preferred preference.

Successful Sunshine Coast hospital and Health Service first year graduates will be eligible to apply for a second year program in these areas.

The interview process is face-to-face interviews over a minimum of two days and will be held at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. If you intend to apply to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, please ensure that you're available for interviews during this time frame.

The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service will only recruit graduates via the Queensland Health Graduate Portal and this is done once per year. The criteria we use for short listing and recruitment is aligned to the Queensland Health prospectus.

Please ensure that you refer to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service website, which you can access on the Queensland Health Graduate Portal, before you submit your application.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service does not employ graduates who have not been successfully recruited through the graduate program. We also did not employ graduates prior to the commencement of the graduate RN/RM program, on the Casual Pool instead of the graduate program, or on a concurrent appointment to a different clinical area while completing the graduate RN/RM program.

As part of the graduate recruitment campaign the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service conducts a pre-recruitment day, which is held early November, for successful applicants.

Successful applicants will be required to submit JP-certified documents to progress to their recruitment.

Our program will commence in the third week in February and followed by unit induction, which is inclusive of clinical supported super-numerary shifts with your preceptor and clinical coach.

Once again, we thank you for reviewing the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service graduate program site, and we look forward to reviewing your application and meeting you at interview.
