Non-Clinical Internship Program

Sunshine Coast Health’s Non-Clinical Internship Program provides university students with the opportunity to undertake meaningful work-integrated learning in a real health service environment. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to supervised projects and activities, and gain practical skills relevant to your field of study.

Internships are designed to complement your university learning. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to work that supports the priorities and deliverables of your host team.

To date, Sunshine Coast Health has established relationships with the following tertiary institutes:

• University of the Sunshine Coast
• Griffith University

Placement opportunities

Opportunities may be available in the following work areas:

• Workforce Division/Finance (Business, Human Resources, Accounting, Economics, Finance).
• Digital/Information Services (IT, Multimedia, Software Development and Computer Programming)

How placements work

Most placements will be:

• one day per week
• for up to 12 weeks
• scheduled to align with the work-integrated learning periods of participating universities
• unpaid and undertaken as part of an approved university course or placement requirement.

Who can apply

You may be eligible if you:

• are currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate university course
• are required or permitted to complete a work-integrated learning placement as part of your studies
• have approval and support from your university
• can meet the requirements of the proposed placement.

All placements must be arranged in collaboration with the student’s university.

Our next intake will align with our tertiary partners Trimester 3 period (November 2026 to January 2027, with applications opening September 2026.)
