Each year we celebrate our Nurses and Midwives at an awards ceremony and this year we want to remind them of how important they are to the people they care for.

To celebrate our nurses and midwives as part of our yearly awards ceremony, we’re asking the community to share messages of support and appreciation.

Sunshine Coast Health Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Lisa Newport said that our Sunshine Coast Health nurses and midwives work incredibly hard to provide the best possible care to our communities.

“Nurses and Midwives make up more than half of Australia’s health workforce across a number of healthcare settings including our hospitals and residential aged care facilities," she said.

“Each day our nurses and midwives not only provide health care for our patients, but they also think of the little things as well. The greatest strength of our nurses and midwives is in their compassion, empathy, and ability to connect with our patients."

“We’re hoping to get as many comments from our communities as possible to read out as part of our International Nurses’ Day and International Day of the Midwife celebrations."

“It’s been a busy few years for our nurses and midwives and this would help to bring a lot of joy on International Nurses’ Day and International Day of the Midwife.”
